Cafe di Scala is a Des Moines restaurant located in a Century Old Victorian Mansion a few blocks west of Downtown in the Historic Sherman Hill Neighborhood at 641 18th Street. We’re open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-10 pm.
Cafe di Scala is noted as one of the most romantic restaurants in the Des Moines metro area. The cuisine evolves seasonally, while our award winning wine list is chosen carefully to compliment each ingredient. Combining the philosophy of “fresh and local” along with desserts and homemade pastas crafted daily, guests will be greeted with both Iowan imagination and Italian tradition.
Though worlds away from Scala Coeli in Southern Calabria, the very essence of this tiny Italian mountain village inspired my vision for this café. The culture and simplicity of everyday life I experienced there is now a reality I share with you…. Remarkable food, wine & company.
